Latest Addition - Raptor Photos

Filed under: News — Ken @ 11:49 am

By request of a recent visitor and an Arizonan to boot, I took the opportunity to test out my new Canon 100-400 Image Stablizer lens that I purchased a couple of weeks ago, and tried capturing some larger birds. I ended up going out to the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum yesterday and made it a point to visit the Raptor Free Flight event that they have out there.

I was quite impressed with this new lens. As large as this lens is, I haven’t really used it without a tripod in the past couple of weeks. Yesterday however, I didn’t feel like toting my tripod and setting it up each time I wanted to take a photo at each exhibit. So, I bravely left my tripod in my truck and entered the park without it. Much to my amazement, this lens handled extremely well without a tripod. So much in fact, I don’t think I’ll be carrying my 75-300mm lens around with me to events any more. In just one day, I was able to take over a hundred photos and only have a few that were slightly blurry. This lens made my life much easier when taking photos at a long focal length. If you can afford this lens, I highly recommend it. You can purchase this lens from Adorama by clicking this link.

See what you think of the new raptor photos. I think they are hands down better than all the other photos I’ve taken with my 75-300mm lens. I still have more landscape photos to upload and share of my recent trip to Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon and the Grand Canyon. I’ve been meaning to get busy with uploading them, but just haven’t had a chance yet. With these new photos however, I was anxious to share them today.
