Happy New Year
I haven’t had much time for photography during the holidays, as I’m sure everyone else was in the same boat. I did manage to get out of town this past Saturday though. We went up to Madera Canyon as a spur of the moment thing. Well, sort of. I’ve been wanting to go up there for a while now to see if I could photograph an Acorn Woodpecker. I got to see one but I wasn’t fortunate enough to get a keeper photo though. Ah well. Maybe next time I’ll have better luck. I’m thinking of renting a cabin up there for the weekend in the spring. Maybe I’ll have better luck and maybe get lucky enough to photograph an elegant trogan too. In any case, if you are into birding, then Madera Canyon is the place to go. Check out this page and read up on all the birds that are there. It’s definitely a bird haven. Even if you don’t want to do any birding, there are all sorts of places to hike around and it’s worth a days outing.
I apologize for the main page photo not being in the gallery yet for interested parties to read about. Apparently there is a virus going around that exploits PHP Uploads and my host changed a few things that disabled my uploads. As you can see from my blue moon gallery photo though, the issue is finally resolved. It only took me about 5 hours of researching to figure things out but hey, it works now so I guess I shouldn’t complain. As for this months photo on the main page, it’s a night shot of Gates Pass, just outside of Tucson. It was taken from the little roadside pull out/park area of Gates Pass in the Tucson Mountain Park. The view is looking back towards Tucson, for those of you familiar with this area. Gates Pass is an awesome place to get some really cool sunset photos. That’s exactly why I went out there a couple of weeks ago, but I got stuck in traffic and wasn’t able to make it in time. So, I made the best out of the situation and waited until it got darker and was able to get a few shots off before they closed the park at 6pm.
Happy New Year everyone!
