Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT (350D)

Filed under: News — Ken @ 10:55 am

With computers, it’s always been every 18 months that technology doubles in speed. It doesn’t look like the world of digital cameras are any different these days. It appears as if Canon is releasing a newer version of their EOS 300D/Digital Rebel camera. It now sports a nice new black look and has several options that were not available with the 300D along with a new 8 megapixel DIGIC II image processor. The 300D was the lower end alternative to Canon’s 10D camera, as I’m sure the 350D is to Canon’s 20D. Note that the 8 megapixel of the 350D is not the same as the 20D. The 20D has 8.2 megapixels.

My advice? Just save up a little more and buy the 20D. You won’t be disappointed that you did. As for me? Well, I’ll be saving up for the next full sensor camera like Canon’s 1DS Mark II. Of course, by the time I’ve saved up enough, most likely they’ll have gone through several models and will have everything dialed in perfectly.

Next Full Moon

Filed under: News — Ken @ 12:44 pm

This is for anyone who had cloud cover and couldn’t photograph the last full moon, like myself. The next full moon is scheduled for Wednesday, February 23rd, 2005. I’m looking forward to shooting it again, as I want to experiment with the other white balance settings to see what else is possible. I thought the blue from the tungusten balance really enhanced the moon last time. Shooting with some colored filters might also prove to be fun, but I unfortunately haven’t purchased any yet for the “beast”, as I like to call it.
