It didn’t take two weeks for the new design to be released, but it sure felt like it as far as the hours that went into the redesign and reprocessing of all the photos.   There may be some broken links here and there for the next week or so, but hopefully I’ll have them all resolved as soon as possible.  In the mean time, I hope you enjoy the new gallery as much as I do.  It’s clean, simple and the photos look much better with the black design, IMHO.

Dobson Central is long over due for a redesign. I’ve been wanting to do this for quite some time now and I’ve finally got a reason to do it. I have come across a new gallery/photoblog application that I really like. It’s very clean and simple to use for everyone. One of the coolMen At Work features of this change will be the latest photo will always be on the main page. That’s something I never got around to doing with the current theme, which is dynamically making the CSS design show the latest photo in the background on the main page.

I’m currently in the process of designing a template (a whole new color scheme and look) to use with this new application. So far, it’s coming along nicely. The bad news is, I have to reprocess most of my photos to fit the style of this. For 800×600 resolution users, there’s more bad news. I’m going to design for 1024×768 screen resolution. I know there are still some 800×600 users out there, however, with photography, so much more detail can be seen with larger photos and I think this is for the best. With today’s large monitors, I’m hoping this doesn’t affect anyone visiting here. I know I’ve been using 1024×768 for many years and now with my 24″ monitor, my resolution is way above (1920×1200) what I used to use. If anyone has any complaints or would like to keep it at 800×600, please post a comment below and voice your opinion. If I receive enough complaints, I can alter the design easily enough to make it work for 800×600. With today’s monitors though, the statistics shown here, here and here show a very small percentage is still using 800×600. Actually 1024×768 appears to be the new bare minimum. The rest are above 1024×768.

So, over the next couple of weeks (maybe even less), it will be quiet here without any new photos being posted. There are already new photos posted for the new design, but you’ll have to hold your horses and wait like everyone else. It’ll be worth the wait.
