Canon is releasing their next model to replace the ever popular 20D camera. With all these options, I don’t think this will be for prosumers. You’ll definitely have to be a pro to operate it. Just check out all the cool neat features on it. I want one!

The fine folks over at Sybex are throwing a little Photo contest. Apparently this started back on February 15th, but I only heard about it yesterday. The deadline for all entries is April 1st, so there isn’t a whole lot of time left to submit your photos. The grand prize is $1000, 2nd place is $500 and 3rd place will receive a copy of the Digital Photographer’s Library.

In any case, $1000 could buy a nice lens…

While we’re on the kick of photo quizes, here’s four more. Some of these repeat from the previous test. For those of you who are competitive, I’ve posted my scores next to each link for something to beat. The forth test got me on 4 of them.

Real or Hoax, Test 1 (8 out of 10)

Real or Hoax, Test 2 (8 out of 10)

Real or Hoax, Test 3 (8 out of 10)

Real or Hoax, Test 4 (6 out of 10)

Someone sent me another picture test on whether or not these are real photographs or digitally altered. Needless to say, I did rather poorly scoring only 5 out of 10. I’m sure most of you have already seen the majority of these pictures and like I, dismissed them as hoaxes.

See how well you can do

I stumbled upon this video today while cruising the depths of the internet. I thought others might enjoy this as much as I did. The video is a time elapsed trip from California to New York with a pitstop to pick up a friend, all nicely wrapped up in about 4 minutes.

Watch the video (It’s 14 megs but well worth it)

With all the modified photos floating around on the internet, do you think you’re good enough to tell what’s fake and what’s not? I thought I was, but there are some really talented people on this planet. I didn’t do too horribly however, only missing a few. See how well you can do in discovering a fake photo and take the following quizes.

Have a safe and happy Fourth of July. May all your night photography photos come out perfect too!

Last week I came across an interesting site where a guy (Dean Baldwin) hooked up his digicam to his snooze alarm and has taken photos of himself every morning for three years. While that is definitely something that is unique, what I really liked about this site was the site design. I wish I had the flash talent to do something of this caliber. Click the photo below to visit the web site and when it loads, click on Snooze Button. If you have a popup blocker, you’ll want to allow the only popup from this page, as it will launch the flash interface.

I like photography as much as the next photographer, but it never crossed my mind that “Hey, what if we made a photography video game? Wouldn’t that just be a hoot?” Well someone did. I know some of you are just chomping at the bit for the magical link, so try to contain your excitement as you head on out of here to go play it.

In all fairness, just prior to pasting the link here, I noticed in my browser that it was, thankfully, a kids game. My 4 year old should like it. =)

On Sunday, April 24th, is an annual event called Worldwide Pinhole Photography day. It’s an event to celebrate the art of Pinhole Photography. Pinhole cameras have been around for a very long time and are actually very cool cameras. For those that aren’t familiar with this, a pinhole camera is just that. A camera with a very small pinhole where you control the light for each of your exposures. They are simple to build and can be quite fun, not to mention, a great way to really enhance your exposure knowledge. There is an entire web site dedicated to this special event over at www.pinholeday.org where you can submit your pinhole photos, pictures of your own homemade pinhole cameras and a lot more.
