I had been noticing these little birds this past week visiting the oranges that I had been putting out for the birds. At a quick glance, these looked a little like an off shoot of a lesser goldfinch. It wasn't until I captured photos of them that I was able to determine what they were.
Like the lesser golfinch, Verdin's normally don't stay in one spot for too long, especially long enough to photograph them. As I discovered during this photo shoot, put out a delicious orange and it's a whole different story. This particular bird allowed me to get within 7 feet from him and snap happily away while he ate and watched me.
I saw this photo AFTER the shot of a similar looking bird on the branch sitting near an orange, they both are such good photos!
