Several weeks ago, my mom and I trekked out into the desert to experiment with shooting star trails. The last time either of us had ever shot star trails was back in the film days, which for me, was back in the late 1980's. One of the locations I had been wanting to shoot at night was Gates Pass. Not for the star trails, but to see what the car trails would look like on the windy road down the back side of Gates Pass.
The keeper shot of the night for me was this this photo, obviously. I was hoping it would have been of star trails and not car trails, but I'll take what I can get. I still had fun and learned a few things from my mistakes. Hopefully next time I decide to go out for star trails, I'll come away with some shots worthy of sharing.
I really love the lights coming down the steep part of the road. Great photo.
