Waikiki Fireworks

My family took a trip to Hawaii for a cruise around the islands in 2014. It had been 24 years since we moved from Hawaii back to Arizona. We had one night to stay before boarding our ship the next day, so I captured some fireworks on the beach of Waikiki for the 4th of July fireworks show.

Canyon De Chelly

After visiting Window Rock, Arizona, my mom, son and I took a little jaunt up to Chinle, Arizona. This little Indian reservation town will never win any awards for being the most beautiful place in the world by any means. In fact, we didn't want to stay there any longer than we had to. The good thing was we weren't there to gawk at the town. We went there for the sole purpose of photographing Canyon De Chelly. While this rock formation is cool and all, I think it would have been better if we were able to get down to the bottom of the canyon without being gouged by having a trail guide. Should I ever go back here, I may look into getting down into the canyon.

Trees of Window Rock

While visiting Window Rock, Arizona and waiting for nightfall, we photographed what caught our eye. For me, it was the silhouettes of the trees in the park. I liked the contrast between the dark trees and the sunset falling on the rock wall behind them.

Here is a more close up shot of last weeks photo of Window Rock, Arizona. My son decided to hike up the back side of this location and I'm glad he did. It made for a more interesting photo with a subject inside the window. How many of you actually noticed him in last weeks photo?

My mom, son and I visited Window Rock, Arizona several years ago to photograph star trails of Window Rock. The star trails were a bust because I didn't have the correct settings on my camera. It was cold and we were tired so instead of starting over, we left and got some sleep. What I came away with was this photo, which isn't very colorful since it was the dead of winter and everything was dead. The window rock is a very cool natural feature that I would most definitely like to return and try my hand at star trails again some day. For those interested, Window Rock, Arizona is a very small town on the border of Arizona and New Mexico.

Studded Purse

One day I noticed a coworker who had a very unique purse. It was a silver purse with a bunch of ball bearing looking studs on it. So one day I decided to bring my photography gear in and see what kind of unique shots I could capture of it. The look I received when I asked if I could borrow her purse was definitely one that would have put me in the crazy house, had I not had an opportunity to explain why.

Bobcat (Lynx rufus) ·

Having an acre of property in Tucson means having more wildlife visit your yard. The majority of my yard is natural landscape, aka desert. So, the animals feel free and visit quite often. We used to have a bobcat visit several times a week. She eventually had cubs and we would see them every so after thereafter. This, I believe, is one of the cubs all grown up. This one would just lay on my wall and catch some shade during the afternoon sun as it set.

Tucson Mountain Sunset

When waiting to capture lightning, you often find yourself missing the monsoon storm altogether because it decided to change course. The consolation prize, is the beautiful Arizona sunsets. This is one of those consolation prizes.

One of the nights we went out chasing storms, we went out to the Dove Mountain golf course for the explicit purpose of capturing some lighting. While the storm and lightning never happened (only light rain), we did what we do best. Wait for the golden light and capture a sunset.
