Changing your minds eye to look differently at the world through a macro lens takes some getting used to. In this particular shot, I focused my attention away from anything colorful or weird and walked a different path (literally) where the general public probably don't walk much in downtown Tucson. It was here that I spotted an old wooden gate where the bolts look like they'll withstand time much longer than the wood they were bolted to.
This photo was part of a "macro lens" photo project I assigned to myself for the month of December (31 photos in all). I wanted to do something to spur some creativity, and get me to try something completely different that would get me out of my comfort zone. My mom also decided to partake in this assignment on her web site.

Excellent exposure and composition. My favorite shot so far.

Thanks. Stay tuned tomorrow for an even closer shot of the top left bolt in this photo. This one is still my favorite out of the two though.
