This is in fact a bench seat of a picnic table, located downtown in Tucson. The tables have a sort of rubberized coating or perhaps they are power coated. The shadows you see are from the holes from the top of the table. Isolating the holes/shadows in a macro shot definitely makes this a different shot of a park bench/picnic table.
This photo was part of a "macro lens" photo project I assigned to myself for the month of December (31 photos in all). I wanted to do something to spur some creativity, and get me to try something completely different that would get me out of my comfort zone. My mom also decided to partake in this assignment on her web site.
