Merry Christmas everyone! If I wasn't doing this macro project for the entire month of December, prior to December, I would have posted something a bit more Christmas-like. Still, I'd like to think that 31 photos in one month is a better Christmas present than the average four to eight I've posted in the past.
This photo is perhaps my second favorite shot of the month for this macro project that I took. This photo has been in the works for almost two years now. A friend of mine asked me roughly 2 years ago if I could capture a shot of a pawn piece and a queen piece and have the pawn morph into the queen. I'm not sure if my final animated gif was what he had envisioned, but I do know I like this shot. One of the neat features of this shot is that I used three flashes (two 580 EX II strobes and one 420 EX strobe) to accomplish the lighting seen in this photo.
This photo was part of a "macro lens" photo project I assigned to myself for the month of December (31 photos in all). I wanted to do something to spur some creativity, and get me to try something completely different that would get me out of my comfort zone. My mom also decided to partake in this assignment on her web site.
