It took me two trips to get this shot the way I wanted it. On my first trip, I captured various compositions of both the door and the lock, but none seemed to do anything for me. That's when I started just looking more closely at the unique features of the key hole and plate on the door.
This photo was part of a "macro lens" photo project I assigned to myself for the month of December (31 photos in all). I wanted to do something to spur some creativity, and get me to try something completely different that would get me out of my comfort zone. My mom also decided to partake in this assignment on her web site.
