I was in shock when I saw a torch cactus in bloom, let alone in downtown Tucson when it was 55 degrees out. As beautiful as these things are in bloom, I couldn't pass this up. Not that I did the flower any justice in this photo, I still had to try.
This photo was part of a "macro lens" photo project I assigned to myself for the month of December (31 photos in all). I wanted to do something to spur some creativity, and get me to try something completely different that would get me out of my comfort zone. My mom also decided to partake in this assignment on her web site.
