I have never been to a pro hockey game before. Mainly because I've heard once you've seen a pro game, watching college games is like watching a pee wee game. It's just slower and not as exciting. Since Tucson doesn't have a pro team, I'll stick with watching college games.
Watching the fights and people getting checked into the walls is all part of the fun of watching a live hockey game. Well there's that and watching the inebriated folk, but that's another story. The sound of the skates hitting the wood boards on the wall whenever players get checked, always makes it seem like a much harder hit than it really was. The people all ooh and aah like someone just got clobbered. Even in this shot, where there was barely any contact, you heard the ooh's and ah's.
