I'm still in search of the perfect Cardinal photo and I'll probably be trying for years to come. These brightly colored birds are so skittish, even in captivity surrounded by humans on a daily basis. Then again, that is why I like avian photography. It's more of a challenge than photographing stationary objects such as landscape scenes, plants, etc.
I captured this in the aviary exhibit at the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum. My nit pics on this photo is that this one isn't as brightly colored as the ones I've seen on my property and I clipped the tail off a bit. Regardless of my own nit pics, this is probably the closest I've come to a Cardinal to date.
