I can't believe it's already been a full year since I first saw a torch cactus in bloom. These are some very colorful cacti when in bloom. These are hybrid torch cacti and are grown out at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum and they have red, orange, pink/white flavors out there. Last year was filled with bad luck when I went to try my hand at capturing these. It was an unusually chilly morning and I waited until the afternoon for these to open up, but naturally they didn't. This year, I was at least able to capture this shot out of the whole patch that I liked. I'm not happy with the composition, but there is always next year to improve on it. I think when I clear out my property, I will be making room to plant an entire section of these cacti, along with the beautiful hedgehog cacti. Both of which are probably my favorite cactus when in bloom.
