Every year I like to try my hand at taking pictures of the wild flowers in the spring. I had never taken the trip down the road to Catalina State Park to capture any of the Mexican Poppies. It's always a crap shoot from what I have heard, so I never attempted to try before this year.
The unfortunate down side to these flowers is that you have to wait until the sun is high in the sky and for the poppies to get warm enough to open up. Harsh lighting is never a good thing for photography, let alone trying to capture an already bright flower.
