These cabins were built with Valley of Fire sandstone by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930’s for travelers and are now historic. One of the things that I do before any photography trip, is take a look at the photos that have been captured by others of the area that I'm going to visit. The Cabins is a spot that is commonly captured during the day, with not having much life in the photos. I saw the opportunity to try my hand at "Painting with Light". A technique where you shine a light source over any area that you want to show up in your long exposure photo, typically at night. While I did see a few others capture the cabins lit up on the inside at night, I didn't see much where the surrounding area was exposed for lighting. So, I chose to light up the cabins and surrounding area to see what you see in this photo.
