The Arizona bark scorpion is a small light brown scorpion common to the Sonoran Desert in southwest United States and northern Mexico. I captured this in an exhibit at the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum under a black light, which explains the cool nightclub colors going on here. The bark scorpion is nocturnal and prefers to ambush its prey, usually feeding on crickets, roaches, beetles, and other small insects. Bark Scorpions can also be cannibalistic, occasionally feeding on a fellow scorpion. If you live in Arizona, you'll know that you should always keep your house clean of their food or you might find yourself with a feeding ground for scorpions.
