It's hard to believe this web site has been up and running since June 21st, 2002. For practically the first year, it was just a domain name with a mail server in the background. The domain name was the hardest to pick out, since I really wanted www.kendobson.com but it was taken and still remains that way the last time I checked. One of the many alternative (computerized) suggestions that came up when I was trying to pick a domain name was for www.dobsoncentral.com. I got to thinking that it might not be bad and that I could use the domain for my family. So, for the first year, it was just used for email messages for my wife and I, as well as my 4 siblings and my Mom..
Fast forward six months and and that was right around that time that my film camera went on the fritz and I purchased my first digital camera. I've been loving digital ever since. The leap to use my domain name to publish photos for family and friends around the country was a no brainer. At first, it was pretty easy to make html pages and put in a photo for each photo that I took that I wanted to share. After many months of creating pages and uploading, it got really old and cumbersome. I found myself spending more time managing links, creating pages and uploading files to the server, changing designs, etc. that photography was taking a back seat. That's when I started using a database such as Coppermine to do the photography side and managing only a few pages.
It wasn't long after using a database and not having to edit pages that I soon realized how wonderful it was. My photos were taken care of by Coppermine and I started using Word Press to publish items of interest on the fly. Just last year, I stumbled across PixelPost that filled my need of rotating photos on the main page and I have never been happier. 100% database for Dobson Central and nearly hassle free of any site design. Much more time for photography and spending time with the family.
So, for those that come by and visit this web site, now you know how Dobson Central came to be what it is today. For those that keep visiting, and especially those that leave comments, I want to thank you. It's the comments (both on and off the web site) that keep me sharing the photos and doing what I do. I would most likely be shooting regardless of the comments, but continuing to maintain this web site, designing, and sharing photos would have probably stopped a while ago. So, thank you! I hope the fun continues and this site will be alive in another 7 years.

I have told you over the years that you have talent in may things but photography is your click, that switch that allows you to step out of your box of everyday. Oh yea...thanks for putting my little dirty bird up front. Hugs!
