While trying to find nice, large yucca's in White Sands, New Mexico, we found a bunch of little yuccas like the one above. I had these visions of large yucca's in the foreground of these grand sand dunes before I arrived. Little did I know, that the little ones would be some of my favorite shots from the trip. Photographing them up close with a wide angle lens can shift the emphasis and make them appear as if they were larger, full-grown yucca, as if they were shot with another lens from a further distance. One of the rules in photography that should never be forgotten is: move closer to your subject. Getting closer can drastically change your photographs and take a wide open vista and turn it into something more personal and intimate.
