As I mentioned last week, I was able to get into the Sedona chapel while the cleaning crew was downstairs getting the place ready. I noticed the signs that said they didn't open until 9am. I didn't think much of it, since about ten other early-risers such as myself had already been going in and out of this place. After taking last weeks photo, I went over to the candles that were all lit to take a photo of them. Unfortunately this was the time the cleaning people came up the stairs and told me the place was closed. I had quickly set up my tripod and framed a couple of shots as I was apologizing. Once the composition looked good, I fired off three shots in hopes of capturing a decent shot to create a high definition photo. This was the result. It was a quick attempt and fortunately it worked out. The practice of lighting candles in order to obtain some favor probably has its origins in the custom of burning lights at the tombs of the martyrs in the catacombs. The lights burned as a sign of solidarity with Christians still on earth. Because the lights continually burned as a silent vigil, they became known as vigil lights.
