I thought the title of this shot "Don't let go, don't let go" is fitting. This is a perfect example of how to go down with the football without losing it. If I was the one being tackled, that would be the only thing on my mind. That, and thinking let me get one more yard, just one more yard.
Throughout the game, I tried various settings to see what would give me the best results. Obviously due to it being night out, shooting at 1600 ISO was the only way to go. I did try to bring the ISO down some, but even shooting with an f2.8 lens and a strobe, it still wasn't enough light. I shot mostly on Aperture priority (f2.8) since that was stopping the action for the most part. Even still, I noticed that the lighting was a little brighter than it should have been. I know I could fix it some what since I was shooting in RAW mode, but I'm one to get it right in camera and avoid extra processing time. Adjusting the aperture, even slightly, wasn't stopping the action. I tried
